A new model to predict the propagation of BVDV

A new model to predict the spread of BVDV in suckler cattle herds

BioEpAR has developed a new model to predict the spread of BVDV in lactating cattle herds.

This model is useful for assessing the impact of BVD on herd productivity. It predicts the losses most likely to occur during the acute phase, i.e. the first 3 years after virus introduction into a BVD-free herd. However, the 10-year cumulative losses of infection in the endemic herd exceed the cumulative losses in the three years of the acute phase.
