Early treatment of infectious bovine bronchopneumonia

Early treatment of infectious bovine bronchopneumonia with a reduced dose of marbofloxacin is effective for healing and should be targeted to reduce the use of antibiotics.

Early treatment of infectious bovine bronchopneumonia with a reduced dose of marbofloxacin is effective for healing and should be targeted to reduce the use of antibiotics.

One possible way to reduce the use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine and their impact on the emergence of resistance is the use of treatment with a reduced dose. We have validated experimentally and under animal husbandry conditions the efficacy of treating infectious bovine bronchopneumonia with a reduced dose of marbofloxacin. In order to obtain a favourable effect on antibiotic consumption, it remains necessary to develop methods for early detection of sick animals in order to target those for whom treatment is necessary. Adapting antibiotic doses requires the deployment of precision veterinary medicine, combining diagnostic tools, animal monitoring, and adjusted drug protocols.
