Conference ModAH 2017 – Modelling in Animal Health

Conference ModAH 2017 – Modelling in Animal Health

Around a hundred researchers at the closing international conference of the MIHMES project in Nantes from 14 to 16 June 2017.

The Nantes School of Architecture opened its doors to a 3-day international conference bringing together scientists from all over the world, on the occasion of the closing of the MIHMES Investissement d'Avenir project. Modelling was at the heart of the presentations and debates, with the aim of better understanding and predicting the spread of pathogens in animal populations, considering different scales (intra-host, intra-herd, intra-region) and under different constraints (climate, control decisions made by breeders, etc.).

Multidisciplinary perspectives enriched the discussions, enabling the way of producing scientific methods and knowledge to be considered from many angles. This event was an opportunity to share recent research carried out around the world in animal health modelling, to disseminate the results of the MIHMES project, and to open up avenues for future international collaboration.

The MIHMES project: "Multi-scale modelling from animal intra-host to metapopulation, mechanisms of agent propagation" is an investment project for the future (2012-2017) that aims to assist in the management of enzootic infectious diseases and risks in veterinary public health. The 4 diseases studied in the project are Q fever, paratuberculosis, bovine viral diarrhoea (BVD), and porcine respiratory and dysgenic syndrome (PRDS).. http://www.inra.fr/mihmes
