Project summary:

Globalization has increased the incidence of infectious diseases in livestock, further aggravated by the reduction of antibiotic usage. The use of immunostimulants and the development of trained immunity has emerged as a potential strategy to enhance animal resilience to diseases. We propose a comparative immunology approach that aims to identify novel immunostimulants with the capability to induce trained immunity, decrease susceptibility to infection against relevant pathogens (PRRSV, swine influenza virus (SIV), and avian influenza virus (AIV)). and/or enhance vaccine-induced immune responses.
