Fernando Saldana

Fernando Saldana is an applied mathematician with a two-year master's and a four-year PhD obtained at the Centro de Investigacion en Matematicas (CIMAT), Mexico. The Mexican National Science Foundation (CONACYT) funded both his master and his Ph.D. studies with a full-time scholarship for highly talented students. In 2018, he also won a scholarship to spend 5 months of international mobility at the Centre de Reserca Matematica (CRM) in Barcelona. He also have three years of postdoctoral experience, one year at UNAM Mexico and two years working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Basque Center for Applied Mathamatics, Spain. His research interests lie in applying mathematical and computational methods to analyze systems that arise in public health, ecology, and population dynamics. In particular, its main focus has been on developing mechanistic Kermack-McKendrick-type (compartmental) models to study both, theoretical aspects of disease spread and more applied aspects such as forecasting hospital demand. His mathematical toolbox to analyze such models includes optimal control theory, bifurcation analysis, and global sensitivity analysis e.g. Sobol's method or partial rank correlation coefficients (PRCC).

Le Torriellec Hélène

After obtaining a BTS in Biotechnology in 2025 from Lycée Talensac in Nantes, Héloïse gained her first research and development experience through two laboratory internships at INRAE (SecAlim Joint Research Unit) and IFREMER (MASAE Unit). These internships focused on the study of pathogenic bacteria and the development of synthetic microbiota in food matrices.

She then continued her studies by enrolling in a Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Food Biotechnology (BSA) through a work-study program at the University of Nantes, with the aim of strengthening her skills in life sciences while gaining extensive professional experience.

Her work-study placement took place within Joint Research Unit 1300 BIOEPAR, as part of the TIBODI team, under the supervision of Claire Bonsergent-Guillou and Laurence Malandrin, scientific lead of the PiroM2F project. Her work focused on an exploratory study investigating colostrum as a potential route of transmission of the parasite Theileria equi from mare to foal, the causative agent of equine piroplasmosis.

Rose-Bernard Eliacin

After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, specializing in Biology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, from the University of French Guiana in 2020, Rose-Bernard decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Health Biology, specializing in Molecular and Cellular Signaling, at the University of Besançon. Unfortunately, that year did not go as planned, and following her first year of the Master’s program, she decided to undertake a civic service position in the field of education at the MJC de Palente. As a mentor for middle school and high school students, she supported them with their schoolwork and helped them make decisions regarding their educational and career paths, while also maintaining communication with their families. Alongside this first experience, she dedicated herself to supporting people with reduced autonomy by working as a home care assistant.

For the 2023–2024 academic year, Rose-Bernard obtained a Professional Bachelor’s degree in Genomics in Lyon, completing her work-study placement at LDA01 in Bourg-en-Bresse. She then worked at Oniris VetAgroBio from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2026.
