Trained as a veterinarian, Nathalie Bareille chose to become a teacher-researcher by joining the National Veterinary School of Nantes (Oniris) in 1991. Currently, as a professor, she teaches zootechnics and population medicine applied to cattle production. She is an epidemiologist and conducts research on multifactorial cattle diseases in various production systems. Her projects aim to describe the prevalence of diseases/impairments to animal welfare, to evaluate the preventive effect of control actions, to quantify the effects of diseases on the technical and economic performance of the farm and to understand the role of health advisors. She has supervised 15 PhD students and has published about 80 articles in international journals. She is Director of the UMR BIOEPAR.
