Research Engineer UMR 1300 BIOEPAR Adress: Oniris site de la Chantrerie, CS40706, 44307 Nantes, France Team TIBODI, building G2 2nd floor Email: maggy.jouglin@oniris-nantes.fr Tel: 02 40 68 78 91

After starting her career at the École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort, first in Pet Nutrition and then in Horse Biomechanics, which enabled her to specialise in the fields of physico-chemistry, biochemistry and immunology, Maggy Jouglin, through voluntary mobility, joined the ENV Nantes in 2002 and now works in the TiBoDi team at UMR BIOEPAR.

Maggy Jouglin has initial training in microbiology, supplemented by CNAM credits in biochemistry, training in cell culture and molecular biology, and a diploma from the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes en Nutrition obtained in 1990.

Within the TiBoDi team, she carries out the detection and identification of various vector-borne pathogens such as Babesia, Theileria, Anaplasma, Bartonella, for certain zoonotic agents circulating in vertebrate hosts, as well as the characterization and intra-specific genetic variability of these agents, particularly in relation to host specificity. Finally, for a better understanding of the modalities of transmission of vectorized agents, it is involved in the identification of ticks such as Ixodes, Dermacentor, Haemaphysalis, and in their dissection, in order to search for the pathogenic agent studied in different organs.

Research Themes
  • Detection, characterization and study of the genetic variability of vectorized pathogens
  • Study of the mode of transmission of pathogens by vector ticks
